Dr Irfan Khan

Dr Irfan Khan is a dual specialist in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine. He has a Staff Specialist position at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. He sees children from neonatal stage to age 18 years, diagnosing and managing a wide range of medical issues, from minor problems to serious diseases. 

Dr Khan’s qualifications and experience are extensive.  He completed a Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) at the Fiji School of Medicine and then worked in a range of clinical roles in Fiji before moving to Queensland. Dr Khan has completed a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) at Sydney University, a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ultrasound (GCCU) at Melbourne University, a Graduate Certificate in Allergic Diseases at Westerm Sydney University (GCAD), a Master’s in Public Health and Tropical Medicine (MPHTM) at James Cook University.

Dr Khan is incredibly passionate about Paediatrics and child health and has worked in a range of roles, including as a Registrar at the Royal Children’s Prince Charles, Logan and Townsville hospitals, as well as at the Queensland Children’s Hospital as a fellow in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.

He is now seeing patients at North West Private Hospital and Mater.  As a father to two children, he not only understands how parents think and feel, he knows how to connect with the children he sees.

Dr Khan is a member of the Neurodevelopomental and Behavioural Paediatric Society of Australasia (NBPSA) and the Australian Trauma Society.  He is also a Senior lecturer in Paediatrics at Griffith University.
